We’re happy to announce the release of GroupDocs.Redaction for Java 26.10, available as of October 2026. This release ports selected improvements from GroupDocs.Redaction for .NET 26.7 and earlier, including custom redaction support and improved image positioning. It also adds new features for OOXML compliance in Word documents, extended spreadsheet template format support, and fixes for CSV/TAB/TSV redaction behavior.

New features

This release introduces the following new capabilities:

  • OOXML compliance control: You can now request an OOXML compliance level when saving Word documents. If not set, the original document compliance is preserved. Strict cannot be downgraded directly to Ecma (use Transitional).
  • Spreadsheet template formats: FileType now exposes Excel template types (.xlt, .xltx, .xltm) and .tab, with correct save-format mapping in Cells paths.
  • Custom redaction handler for PDF: ReplacementOptions now accepts an ICustomRedactionHandler. On each match, the handler receives CustomRedactionContext and returns CustomRedactionResult (apply flag + replacement text). Currently supported for PDF PageAreaRedaction only.
  • Image area positioning: Embedded images that expose page placement and real pixel size are redacted using page coordinates, so PageAreaFilter / ImageAreaRedaction align with the visible image area when the bitmap size differs from the on-page shape.
